The Russian Choir

The Russian Choir was delighted to be invited to share a concert with Cadenza, at the 2008 Choral Festival in Paisley. The choir contributed 2 sets - sacred music in the first half, and folksongs in the second half.

The pieces chosen contrasted very well with the selection performed by Cadenza, and both choirs were very warmly received by the audience.

As the choirs mixed for coffee afterwards, there was a good exchange of light-hearted banter from members of both choirs, along with genuine respect for the music and performance by the “other choir”! And for Cadenza, the audience, the Choral Festival organisers, and Ms Linda Fabiani, Scottish Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture , who said a few words just after the interval, there was genuine surprise that an enterprising and dynamic Russian Choir should exist right under their noses in Glasgow!
